John Porter (guitar)

Guitar ace John Porter is perhaps best known for his work in music production.

John Porter made his name with British indie and rock music — but is now arguably

the world’s leading producer of blues records.

His credits include, Bryan Ferry, The Smiths, Colin Lloyd Tucker, Billy Bragg and the Alarm before leaving England for the USA where he went on to produce, Ryan Adams, Joe Walsh, Maria Muldaur, Stephen Stills, Los Lonely Boys and Carlos Santana.

His life-long love of blues and blues-related music has brought Porter a staggering 10 Grammy awards. Buddy Guy, BB King, Taj Mahal, Otis Rush, RL Burnside, John Lee Hooker, Lucky Peterson, John Mayall, Jimmy Smith and Keb’ Mo.

John’s contribution to Sweet Dreamer was recorded at his own Independence Street Studio in New Orleans.
